The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, was established by the State Legislature of Punjab by passing the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act, 2006. The University is to serve the society through reforms in legal services by way of preparing professionally competent lawyers, inquisitive researchers, able administrators, conscientious judicial officers, and above all, socially responsible citizens, who shall be whole- heartedly and continuously engaged in the process of nation building.
B.A.LL.B. (HONS.) Five Year Integrated Course
The University offers B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Year Integrated Programme where under Social Sciences subjects like Economics, English, History, Political Science and Sociology are taught as major and minor subjects along with Law subjects in the first three years of study. The University follows the Semester System. The teaching methodology includes extensive and intensive class room teaching with emphasis on participative learning. The Courses include assignments, seminars and project work. The thrust of the course is not just on learning but also professional training.
Eligibility: The Admission shall be based exclusively on the merit in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). However, to qualify for admission:
The candidate must have passed 10+2 examination of the Punjab School Education Board or its equivalent with minimum 45% marks in the aggregate (40% marks for SC/ST). The age of the candidate must not be more than 20 years in case of General and 22 years in case of the SC/ST and PWD Candidates. The candidates appearing in or awaiting results of the qualifying examination held or being held in March/April, may also apply and appear for the Combined Law Admission Test (CLAT) provisionally, subject to the condition that they shall produce the proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the prescribed percentage of marks at the time of their interview/counseling.
LL.M. One Year Post Graduation Course
The University offers one-year LL.M. Post Graduation Course with specialization in Business Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law and International Law. (Specialization will be offered subject to the condition of minimum five students opting the same)
Eligibility: The Admission shall be based exclusively on the merit of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The candidate must have passed the LL.B./B.L. Degree examination from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law or any other University whose degrees are recognized by this University, with minimum 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST) shall be eligible for admission to the course. Candidates appearing in/awaiting results of the qualifying examination being held in April/May also apply and appear provisionally for the Admission Test, subject to the condition that they shall produce the proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the prescribed marks at the time of interview/counseling.
In consonance with the master plan of the proposed campus, all the Eight hostel blocks (4 for boys and 4 for girls) have been completed. Three blocks each for boys and girls are equipped with separate mess / dining facilities. All the hostels along with the attached messes are made fully-air-conditioned. All the hostels are equipped with an aqua guard with a water-cooler to ensure 24-hour pure drinkable water supply. Proper hygiene and sanitation facilities are maintained by 24-hour housekeeping service. The hostels are also equipped with 24 hour secured Wifi connection. We have 24 hour security guards to guard the hostels. Also, the hostels are provided with separate geysers. The hostels are provided with 24 hour power supply in case of power failure. All the rooms have been furnished with designer curtains, box type bed(s), study table(s), study chair(s), books shelve(s) etc. every room has been provided with wardrobe(s) having sufficient storage capacity; wardrobe(s) are fitted with locker for safe custody of valuables. We have also taken care of recreational facilities for hostels pupils. Every block has common-rooms. These common-rooms are equipped with Table-Tennis Boards, Televisions, etc. Badminton, basketball and volley-ball courts are available in the area adjoining the hostel buildings. We have rooms for both single accommodation and double-accommodation. We have also tried to acknowledge our disabled students and have prepared special rooms with attached wash-rooms so as to provide them the best facilities, possible.
The air conditioned university library is an example of excellence. With world class library services and rich collection of books and journals, this computerized Wi-Fi library has on its shelves more than 28,000 volumes which include a comprehensive array of legal resources in both print and electronic formats. The library has implemented Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology which facilitates auto-issue and return of books. A very prestigious project of scanning of rare books has been started with sophisticated scanner Bookeye-4.
