Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, was established by an Act of Legislature of Uttar Pradesh in 2005 (U.P. Act No. 28 of 2005) which came into force on 4th January, 2006. The University has been established to advance and  disseminate learning and knowledge of law, legal process and to develop in the students a sense of responsibility to serve the society. Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, which is fully funded by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh, provides excellent infrastructural facilities and academic environment to the students.

Courses


B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Five year integrated programme

The admission shall be based on the performance in the Common Law Admission Test. However, to qualify for admission, the candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) or an examination equivalent thereof, securing in aggregate not less than 45% (40% in case of SC/ST candidates of U.P.) of the total marks. The candidates, who have appeared in the qualifying examination and are awaiting for their results, may also write the Admission Test but their admission shall be subject to the fulfilment of the above requirements at the time of admission. The total intake is 160.

LL.M. One Year Programme

The admission shall be based on the performance in the Common Law Admission Test. However, to qualify for admission, the candidate must have obtained LL.B. Degree or an equivalent Degree from a recognized University with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade (50% in case of SC/ST candidates of       U. P.). The intake is 20.

Ph.D. Programme

The Admission to Ph.D. Degree shall be open to the following candidates: [i] He/She has obtained the LL.M. Degree of Dr. R.M.L. National Law University, Lucknow or its equivalent Degree of any other university recognized by the UGC with at least 55% marks in the aggregate or an equivalent grade. [ii] The eligibility requirement for Admission to Ph.D. Degree in Select Disciplines in Social Sciences and Humanities shall be: (a) A Master’s Degree of any university recognized by UGC having at least 55% marks in the aggregate or an equivalent grade in any subject relevant to the proposed research work with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law; or (b) A Master’s Degree of any university recognized by UGC having at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade, in any subject relevant to the proposed research work with established research credentials by way of publications; or (c) A Master’s Degree of any university recognized by UGC having at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade in any subject relevant to the proposed research work with a long term in-depth practical experience in the area to be researched.

Library


“Madhu Limaye Library” houses valuable collections of legal materials, and provides access to numerous online services and internet sources which serves the legal research needs of the students and faculty. The reading section is divided in three parts i.e., General Reading section, Reference & Journal section and Magazine section. The library is providing access to bibliographical database of library materials and online database access and many other services like back years’ question papers through Web OPAC. In addition, wireless Internet access is available throughout the library. The library has state-of-the-art facilities and also employs CD-ROM technology.

Facilities


Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University sustains its vibrant intellectual life and strong community spirit by encouraging collaboration and new ways of thinking, seeking new ways to support its work, and providing the finest facilities to its students. The University has made available to the students online legal databases, which include: Lexis-Nexis,Westlaw, Manupatra, Indlaw. and Supreme Court Cases. These online databases are immensely helpful to the students. Cases from countries all across the world are just a click away. Online journals and other articles have also been made available. To provide easy access to the internet, campus wide wi-fi facility has been made available to the students. The University takes utmost care of physical health of the students. Various sports and other recreational facilities are available to the students which include a plush gym with high end modern equipments, football field, a multi-purpose indoor sports complex, and upcoming Olympic size swimming pool, Lawn tennis and badminton courts. The University has an in-built Hospital and currently one doctor is appointed there. On-campus medical staff takes care of the health of the students. The University provides a 24-hour ambulance service which serves anyone who requires urgent medical attention. There are separate Halls of Residence for boys and girls; it is compulsory for all the students to reside on campus. The University boasts of high-tech Seminar Halls and Moot Court Halls, with audio-visual recording facilities. The University aims at providing the students with every possible resource available so they are able to act and achieve to the best of their abilities.
