Think Like A Lawyer – Don’t Act Like One – “OFFER A GRATEFUL EXIT”

OFFER A GRATEFUL EXIT

You’re in the middle of a conflict and your opposite party makes a blunder, an obvious mistake. Resist the temptation to take immediate advantage of it. Turn a blind eye to it, but subtly let him know that you’re intentionally turning a blind eye to it. This way, he won’t be (completely) embarrassed and you speed up the resolution of the conflict. Offer the other party a graceful exit and he will owe you. One consequence of this is that he’ll be well disposed to reaching a result that will please you too.
