The J&K high court has got its first ever women judge in history of 90 years as Hon’ble Justice Sindhu Sharma took oath of her office on 7th day of August 2018.
Her more than two decades long embellishing legal career is a glaring example of professionalism and integrity. Before getting elevated to her present position she had the distinction of being appointed as the first women Assistant Solicitor General of India at Jammu wing of the High Court since November 2014. Before this she remained the Vice President of J&K High Court Bar Association for a period of 2 years.
Having enrolled as an Advocate in 1996 she had started her practice at the J&K High Court and the District Court in Jammu. Prior to shouldering the coveted positions Justice Sharma had represented Jammu Development Authority, J&K Education Department, and J&K Service Selection Board as their standing counsel. Besides, she had rendered her services for the Indian Central Government undertakings namely, NHPC and Power Grid Corporation of India.
Her resolve to be pertinent on her dreams and responsibilities, as a first division holding Law student from the Punjab University in 1996, was the propeller to her professional journey. And that has been endorsed ultimately. Getting a bit more into her academics, we see her studios achievements in BA (Honours) Sociology from the Government College for Girls, Chandigarh as the third position holder in the Punjab University. The schooling was unequivocally thunderous with first divisions at the 12th and the 10th grades from MC Mahajan DAV College for women, Chandigarh and Presentation Convent Sr. School, Jammu respectively.
