Universal Group pays homage on the demise of the Doyen of the Legal Fraternity Shri Ram Jethmalani. He was a torch bearer for Universal Law Publishing group and a Friend philosopher and Guide to Universal’s Publishing programmes since its inception.
Born on September 14, 1923, Shri Ram Jethmalani had to his credit an illuminating legal career of 78 years. He served as India’s Union Minister of Law & Justice; Chairman of Bar Council of India, and as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
He was an alumnus of S.C. Shahani Law College, Karachi and University of Bombay. He came in the limelight after he got involved with the famous Nanavati murder case, which was one of the last cases which were heard by a jury in India. It was subsequently abolished in 1959.
His career has been marked by high profile cases and run-ins with some of the most powerful people of the country. As a criminal lawyer, he was gifted with unique techniques of cross-examining the witnesses. Throughout his legal career, he proved his mettle in the courtrooms. He became one of the highest-paid lawyers in India due to his ability to turn the tide in the most challenging cases.
Being a well wisher for Universal, he has been omni present at all the major events organized by Universal, may be a book launch by Universal Law Publishing Co. or a seminar by Universal Institute of Legal Studies.
