Corporation. An imaginary friend who takes the blame for everything you do wrong.
Exclusionary Rule. A doctrine created by the United States Supreme Court to punish society for the transgressions of the police.
Hose. To exercise one's discretion in a forthright or legitimate manner that places someone in a position of disadvantages or loss.
"The cop arrested me for doing sixty in a school zone while smoking a joint."
"Oh, man, you were hosed."
Juice. 1. Personal influence used to achieve a desired result outside legally or socially proscribed procedures. "Tell Eddie not to worry about that possession charge. The old man has some juice with the D.A." The problem with juice is that it isn't always reliable- e.g ., "Eddie is doing three to five in Attica 'cause the old man didn't have enough juice." 2. The same as vig in bookmaking.
Lawyer. The lawyer's place in society is analogous to the designated hitter in baseball. The American Leagues use designated hitters so pitchers can avoid the unpleasant task of attempting to hit the ball. In our politically correct society, anyone who directly disagrees with anyone else is considered a sexist-racist-homophobic-bigot, or simply a son of a bitch. So people hire lawyers to avoid the unpleasant task of talking honestly and reasonably with each other.
Non-acquiescence. A doctrine by which federal agencies, such as the I.R.S., ignore judicial decisions that they don't like so they can continue screwing everyone who lacks the money or the courage to challenge the agency's abusive, arbitrary, or illegal practices in court. |
