EDITORIAL - JUNE 2010

Dear Readers,

Gone are the days, when most of the law graduates stepping out of the law schools joined the Bar; today there are a good number of other lucrative options available. This translates into lesser number of lawyers opting to practice in the Courts despite the National Law Schools producing legal talent in ample supply.

However, it is not the number but the quality of lawyers that has been the cause of worry for quite some time now. This is the problem that the proposed Bar Examination for entry to the Bar seeks to address.

The examination would, hopefully, help the Courts see better lawyers, but the proposal is still being hotly debated by the members of the legal fraternity, and not everybody seems to be supportive of the idea. However, Bar Council of India is set to conduct All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 2010 on 5th December, 2010. The forms will be available from 15th June, 2010. So, lets see what all changes.
